What to do with your soap bar leftovers? | Marcel's Green Soap

What to do with the last pieces of your soap bar?

soap bar leftovers

If you've been using a plastic-free shampoo bar or shower bar in the shower for some time, you probably know that after a few months, only a few small pieces of your bar remain. A shame to throw away of course! And luckily, you don't have to, because Marcel has a great solution for it. Here's how to breathe new life into those last bits of shampoo or shower bar.

If you use the plastic-free bars , you will be left with pieces of soap that you can no longer use! We understand that frustration like no other, and that's why we went looking for the solution. We even found two!

SAVE YOUR SOAP WITH A SOAP BAGS

A soap bag should no longer be missing in your (sustainable) bathroom equipment in 2021. A soap bag is not only handy to store your soap, but you can also wash with it! How does that work? Simple: you put the last bits of soap in the bag, wet the bag with the soap  and you can wash your body or hair with it. This way you can still use even the smallest pieces of soap bar. It doesn't get more sustainable than that!

Don't forget to hang up your soap bag after showering to let it dry. This way your soap will last the longest. The drier the bar stays between washes, the longer the bar will last. And another small tip: make sure you have 2 different soap bags on hand. One for your shampoo bar and the other for your shower bar. And… if you are reducing your consumption a bit, you can also just use a (baby) sock. Or a washcloth.

USE YOUR SOAP BAR LEFTOVERS AS SHAVING CREAM

Another handy tip is to use the last bits of your soap bar as shaving cream. How does that work? Simple: wet the leftovers of your soap bar, rub the product (with a washcloth if this is easier) over the skin you want to shave and shave it baby!

If a brush is part of your shaving toolkit, you can also place the leftovers on a saucer or in a bowl and run a wet brush over it to get the product on the brush.
