Our plastic footprint
At Marcel’s Green Soap, we not only find it important to find the best ingredients that are good for your home, skin, and the environment. We also find it important that the packaging of our products is as environmentally friendly as possible. Every week, millions of plastic bottles end up in the environment. That needs to change!
Two studies by an international team of scientists show that the growth of global plastic production is outpacing what the world can collect in plastic waste.
“Reducing this flow of plastic waste would only succeed if the rapidly increasing production of newly manufactured plastic is slowed down.”
And that existing amount of plastic waste on the planet? It can be reduced with the help of existing technologies. "These include collecting and recycling waste, redesigning products to eliminate the use of non-recyclable plastics, expanding opportunities for refill packages, and in some cases replacing existing materials. But solutions like recycling (currently, only 15% of plastics are reused in the Netherlands) need to be significantly expanded." So it's high time for action!

100% recycled plastic
Marcel's Green Soap was the first brand in Western Europe with bottles made of 100% recycled plastic. By using these bottles, we collect more plastic than we use, reducing the amount of plastic waste. But if we can ensure that those beautiful recycled bottles are also used for a lot longer, that's even better. That's why you can now refill many of our products. At the bottom of this article, you will find all the refill packages of Marcel’s Green Soap.
Why refill packages?
With refill packages, we can reduce the enormous (plastic) waste flow together. By using refill packages, you can save up to 85% plastic compared to the bottle with the same content (with us). This percentage varies for each product because our products come in different bottles. You can find the percentage of plastic you save on the refill package.
Another advantage: you can use your stock for a lot longer. This way, we save a lot of bottles and transport costs together. And besides the fact that refill packages are better for the environment, they are also better for the wallet. Refill packages are cheaper. Refill Hand Soap
For our hand soaps, we have developed special refill packages: the hand soap refills. With these, you can refill all hand soap bottles of 250ml and 500ml. By buying this refill package instead of a new bottle of hand soap, you consume 79% less plastic. Don't forget to deliver this packaging to the plastic waste, as the bag is 100% recyclable.
Refill Laundry Detergent
For our laundry detergents, we have developed special refill packages: laundry detergent refills. With these, you can refill all our laundry detergents. By buying this refill package instead of a new bottle of laundry detergent, you consume 85% less plastic. Also, do not forget to deliver this packaging to the plastic waste, as the bag is 100% recyclable!
All-purpose Cleaner Spray Refill
Empty all-purpose cleaner spray? Refill the bottle with an all-purpose cleaner spray refill. Refills are now available for all scents. By buying a refill package instead of a new bottle of all-purpose cleaner spray, you consume 74% less plastic. Also, the refill bag is 100% recyclable!
Dish Soap Refills
There are now two dish soap refills available: you can refill the scents Orange & Jasmine and Basil & Vetiver from now on. By buying a refill package instead of a new bottle of dish soap, you consume 56% less plastic. Also, this refill bag is 100% recyclable.
Marcel’s Green Soap is working behind the scenes on developing more refill packages, so who knows, you might find even more refill options in our range soon.
